WordPress Plugins Exposed – Module 10 – Smart Update Pinger

Welcome to Module 10 of Wordpres Plugins Exposed. Our video today features the Smart Update Pinger plugin. The Smart Update Pinger plugin is another of those free recommended plugins for your wordpress blog. This plugin adds some optimized functionality to the already present ping utility build in to WordPress. The builtin ping utility is a notification feature that tells (or pings) other blog or news sites when you have added new content to your blog. This built in pinger is fine however it did have a problem with pinging other sites too much causing more harm than good. The enhancement that smart update pinger provides is that its regulates the pings that you send, allow you to schedule pings, and only pings other site when you first create content, not every time the content is edited, changed or modified. Too much pinging and your blog will get banded which is a bad thing. So check out Smart Update Pinger. Its a great simple addition to your blog and will give you the confidence to know you can still notify others when your blog is updated and not worry about being a pest.

Good day! While this information may be a little dated, I’ve found that Smart Update Pinger is no longer updated for use with wordpress 2.1 and above.
